Lasagne urgently recalled from supermarkets as it might contain pieces of plastic

A ready made lasagne is being recalled from supermarket shelves over fears it contains plastic.

The Charlie Bigham meal can be found in stores including Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Tesco, but has been pulled over health and safety concerns.

Charlie Bigham has issued an urgent recall for its Vegetable Lasagne for 1 (365g) and Vegetable Lasagne for 2 (730g) over fears that it may contain small pieces of plastic. Both products have a use-by date of October 24.

The food manufacturer said: “As a precautionary measure, Charlie Bighham’s is recalling our Vegetable Lasagne with USE BY DATE 24 OCT due to potential risk of plastic being found in our product.”

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued the food alert and has warned customers who have purchased the meals not to eat them as they may be unsafe to eat.

Shoppers who have purchased the ready meals are now being urged to return them to the store they were bought for a full refund, or to contact the Charlie Bigham customer care line for more information.

Point of sale notices have been issued by the food manufacturer to explain to customers why the product has been recalled and what they can do if they have purchased the product, reports the Daily Record.
